Wounds and Scars

Thank you again to those of you who suggested this weeks topic on Facebook! I really appreciate it. I am at Joni Camp again this week (Hurray!!) so it will also be short, but I hope it's helpful. The subject of this weeks article is how to help a wound or surgical site heal with oils and how to reduce scarring and scar tissue.
So let's start with the wound/surgical site healing. When I looked at the list of oils that help with healing wounds, I was pretty excited. Mostly because I have the oils and because I love these oils. The oils include Clove, Lavender, Roman Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Peppermint and Thieves. All of these oils have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well as being able to help your body heal faster. Application is up to you. You can apply it around the wound site, diffuse it, or apply it to the soles of your feet or all three.
To reduce scarring or to get rid of existing scars apply Lavender and Frankincense. One of the things that Frankincense is really known for is removing skin blemishes of any kind (i.e. warts, freckles, stretch marks and much more).

I will write about this weeks Joni camp next week and include pictures as well! Hope your week is great!

Some Thoughts

This week I wanted to take a quick look at a book that I just finished reading, as well as a documentary film that is coming out. I know this a  little different then what I normally do, but I think it's important to mention this stuff. The book we are going to look at is called Chia Vitality and the movie is called Wait Till It's Free.
As I said I just finished reading this book called Chia Vitality, and thought it was really informative. I really liked what she had to say about Chia seeds, but alot of what she had to say was New Agey. To read my whole review check out my other blog.
Wait Till It's Free is a feature length documentary film about socialized health care and the implications of Obamacare. It is made by filmmaker Colin Gunn. It will be an exciting film to watch and extremely informative. If you are interested in learning more about this film go to the Wait Till It's Free website. Mr. Gunn also has a podcast in which he talks about his film and has tons of great interviews with professionals in the field. If you are interested in listening to his podcast you can download it on iTunes.
You may be wondering why I am talking about this stuff on a blog about essential oils. As a Christian I believe that Christians as  a whole need and should get involved in politics as well as be better stewards of what God has given us. Those gifts include, but aren't limited to our physical bodies, our health and our money. I mention our health because if we aren't taking care of ourselves, we can't help and love others like God commands.  I am not saying that if we do everything right and eat healthy and exercise and drink lots of water etc., that we will be guaranteed good health. It may be in God's plan for us that we go through a terrible sickness, but we still need to take care of the body that He gave us. What bothers me is that we (Christians) have given nutrition, essential oils and other natural remedies to the world. We think that only hippies or New Agers or Buddhists use them, when in reality God made them first. The Bible is full of natural remedies that God tells His people to use. I am also not saying that conventional medicine is wrong. However there is a lot wrong with it and the system, just like everything else in this world. There needs to be a better balance between conventional medicine and natural remedies. I believe that both can be used simultaneously. Let's claim both forms of medicine and our health for the glory of God! We also need to be better stewards of our money. Both in what we buy and the way we earn it. It is a gift from God that He blesses us with in varying amounts. No matter how much the Lord has blessed you with use it to His glory.

Summer Stress

Summer is really fun, it can be relaxing and often can  provide the much needed rest we need. However with all of that comes a lack of routine, crazy schedules and lots of hot weather. This can cause a lot of stress for some people and stress can lead to all kinds of sickness, it can lower your immune system and a whole bunch of other unwanted side effects. If you get a lot of colds in summer, you might be stressed to some degree or the other. It could be the combination of a lack of sleep, no routines, a very, very busy schedule and lots of traveling. I am going to give you three different oils that will help reduce stress, help your immune system out and simply smell delicious.
This first oil is going to be a huge shocker I know, but Lavender Essential Oil is a huge stress reliever, helps fight colds, helps you go to sleep and so much more. This is definitely one of the oils that you want to make sure you have lots of no matter what time of the year it is.
Stress Away is an oil blend that contains Copiaba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, Lavender and Coconut Oil. I can't believe how good this blend smells. It immediately makes you feel relaxed and can help you sleep like nothing else. I when I am trying to go to sleep but my mind wont relax and races on at full speed I will put a couple drops of Stress Away on my wrists. As soon as I do this I instantly have trouble keeping my eyes open and I am asleep before I know it. I works the same way when I feel stressed.
This next one will also be a shock to you guys,  but Thieves is great for keeping on hand during the summer months as well.  I have been spraying my pillow with the Thieves Spray that Young Living carries every night for the last week or so. It's not because I am sick it's because I don't want to be sick. I also keep a bottle of the blend on hand for all kinds of ailments.
All three of these oils come in the Everyday Kit that you can order either by its self or you can get it in the Premium Starter Kit which is a great value. Oak and Ivy and Ticks Oh My!!

Thanks to those who responded to my Facebook post, I was able to come up with this weeks post! Today's article will include how to take care of ticks and how to relieve poison oak and poison ivy. This will be pretty helpful for those moms whose sons like to have air soft games and manage to get ticks, poison oak and poison ivy. Or maybe you live out in the country and these are constant problems. These are also great for this time of year, because we are outside a lot and we are camping and hiking etc. So let's get started.
The oils that repel and remove ticks are Palo Santo, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Peppermint and Lavender Essential Oils. We already know the wonderful benefits of Lavender, Peppermint and Eucalyptus oils, so let's talk about the others for a minute. Palo Santo Essential Oil  helps with  knee pain, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory and anti-tummoral. Lemongrass Essential oil helps with bladder infections, cholesterol, respiratory infections, digestive problems and much more. So to use these oils to repel ticks simply apply one or all of them topically. If you already have a tick simply apply some peppermint to the tick and he will release.
To relieve or prevent poison oak and poison ivy use Melrose, Purification, RC, Peppermint and Lavender Essential Oils. Melrose Essential Oil is excellent for helping with cuts, burns, rashes and infections. RC is an oil blend that contains Eucalyptus G., Eucalyptus R., Eucalyptus C., Mrytle, Spruce, Peppermint, Pine, Lavender, Marjoram and Cypress Essential Oils. RC helps with cold sores, lung infections, relieves allergies, helps fight colds and the flu and sore throats. You can use one or all of these oils topically to both prevent and relieve an allergic reaction to these plants. If you do end up getting it and it is driving you crazy, mix all of these oils with a carrier oil like Coconut oil or Olive oil and apply it 3-4 times daily till it's gone.
I hope that was helpful. If you are interested in any of these products go to Young Living's website and learn about their other great products. To order click on the member sign up button at the top of the page and enter my member number in the enroller and sponsor number slots at the top of the page. (My member number is 1564241.) Also check out my Facebook Page where I am going to be posting my Youtube videos as well as other fun essential oil stuff. This post was because you guys spoke up about what you wanted to hear about! I love that!! I would love to hear more from you, so please leave comments either here on the Facebook page or on the Youtube channel. I am listening to you and want to write about what you would like to learn about.
I hope you all are having a great summer already! I am definitely having a wonderful time. As you know I have already gone to one Joni Camp, I get to go to 2 more Joni Camps this summer as well as go camping this weekend! I am so excited about this summer.

Joni Camp and Oils

I have pictures from camp and I am going to do a special post like I promised this week! Joni Camp was amazing!!! Thank you to all of you who were praying for me and all of us at camp. It was greatly appreciated. My heart was absolutely captured by my camper. We had such a great time together. Our favorite activities were running, playing soccer and catching Banana Slugs (of which we caught over 20). The Banana Slugs were a little bit of a stretch for me, but I did touch one. I had such a great week with my new friend!
I am still in shock that I am home already. I have suffered from camp withdrawals before, but it has never come so soon or so intense. This camp was the first of 3 this summer, and I only have 3 weeks till the next camp, but it feels like forever till I can get back. The more I go to camp the more I wish I could stay there. It is extremely hard to explain why, or even to describe camp, I wish I could.  I have always had an interest in mission work, and a love for people affected by disability. And camp combines both in a way that I never thought possible. In the process of ministering to these families, I end up getting ministered to and  being blessed in the most amazing way. I have learned so much about myself, about people around me and have fallen more in love with God.
Well as you might have guessed I took some of my oils with me to camp. I am so glad I did to! Several years ago I used to play soccer. During the last season I played my right leg got shin splints. During camp it flared up again and I was able to use some of my oils to help with the pain. I used the blend Deep Relief for my leg and it helped tremendously. I had also brought my Essential Oil Travel Kit with me and used everything in it. I ate some of the cough drops to ward off a cold I felt like I  was getting, used the diffuser to get to sleep one night, and used the Thieves Spray on the shower. I was so glad to have my oils with me last week.
You can get all these oils at Young Living's website. Just click on the member sign-up button at the top of the page and enter my member number in the enroller and sponsor number slots. (My number is 1564241.) Also check out my Facebook Page, as well as my Youtube Channel.

Natural Bug Bite and Sunburn Relief

I have been at Joni camp all week, so this weeks post will be on the shorter side.  I will tell you more about my week here at camp in more detail next week.
With summer comes many a bug bite and sunburn. There will be some overlap from last weeks post, so bear with me. We will start with sunburn relief. The oils that help to relieve sunburn are Lavender and Peppermint. So if you are worried about getting bit by bugs at night, but if you got sunburned during the day, you can apply these oils and hit 2 birds with 1 stone! Isn't that exciting?
For bug bites Lavender, Lemon,  Peppermint and Patchrouli essential oils. Sometimes an oil will not only help prevent the problem, but it also helps to relieve it as well. For those of you who will be camping with me, I will have my oils with me, so if you are feeling brave enough you can try out these oils.

Another great natural bug bite and sunburn reliever is the Aloe Vera plant juice. It's really quite cool how it works. My mom used to have an Aloe Vera plant and all you have to do is break off one of the leaves and there's a gel like substance in the middle of it. You just squeeze the gel onto the area that has the bite or burn and rub it in.
So how did you like the video I did last week? Let me know in the comments below.  If you are interested in any of these oils you can check them out at Young Living's website. Also check out the Facebook Page.

Camping with Essential Oils

I don't know how many of you like to go camping, but I sure do! I have been looking forward to camping for quite a few weeks now. The only part about camping that I could live without is the pesky bugs. This week I am going to share with you some oils that are great bug repellents. They smell way better then the bug repellents that you buy at the store, and they are better for you.  The oils that are going to be mentioned are in the Everyday Kit that comes with the Premium Starter Kit.
The first oil we are going to look at is Lavender.  Amongst all the other things Lavender is good for it adds to it's list as being a bug repellent. It is a super oil! It can do most anything, it helps with burns, helps your body fight colds and much more. You definitely want Lavender in your oil first aid kit.
Purification is a blend that is a great bug repellent. It includes Citronella, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Melaluca, Myrtle and Lavandin Essential Oils. Because of the Citronella it has a very distinct bug repellent smell.
The next oil that we are going to talk about is Peppermint. Not only is Peppermint a great bug repellent, but it also relieves headaches,  and helps you focus. Plus you can taste it on your breathe within minutes  of applying it, which could be very beneficial when your camping.
The last oil we will talk about today is Eucalyptus. This oil not only helps you keep the bugs away, but it helps your body fight colds, respiratory problems and with back pain. A fun fact about both Eucalyptus and Frankincense is that the cough syrup Vick's is based on these two oils, and it smells like them too.
If you are interested in getting these oils for your summer endeavors go to Young Living's website.  If you decide to order, click on the member sign-up button at the top of the page and enter my member number in the sponsor and enroller slots. (My member number is 1564241.) Also check out my Facebook Page I will be posting some fun stuff, including a new video!
I am super excited, because I get to go camping at the end of this month with my church, and I leave in a couple of days for Joni camp! I am definitely  bringing my oils along! Are you going camping this summer? Where at? Leave a comment below.
